Contact Name: Nancy Steffen-Fluhr Organization:New Jersey Institute of Technology

The Murray Center is designed to meet the needs of women faculty, staff and students at a technological university. It provides a forum for women to discuss matters of mutual interest and concern anything and everything that affects the academic and social environment at NJIT. The Center also features a library and a computer linked to the Internet.

The Murray Center sponsors a variety of programs and events that facilitate mentoring and career networking among women. It also serves as a clearinghouse for research about women and technology and encourages the continued integration of gender into the curriculum. The Center plays an important part in the university's commitment to increase the number of women students, faculty and staff in the NJIT community.

The Center is named in honor of Dr. Constance A. Murray, a dedicated educator and humanitarian, who served as the university's dean of student services from 1978 until her death in 1994. Dean Murray was an exceptionally warm and caring person who devoted her life to enhancing opportunities for minorities and women. Guided by her deep respect for diversity, the Center works to create a hospitable environment for all people at NJIT.
